When we think of an Italian sandwich, it’s a cross between catering on a Scorsese set and one of Subway’s monuments of deli meat. When we think of Italian fashion? It’s more like velour tracksuits with gold chains and marinara dotted undershirts (if it IS a Scorsese set, it’s probably not marinara). Clearly, we had some stereotypes to dispel when we took on our newest client. Cue amazing branded designs.
Luckily for us and our hackneyed idea of Italia, a piadina isn’t your stereotypical Italian sandwich – just look below. Go ahead: take a good look, stare at it, salivate over it, because chances are Tustin is far from wherever you are and right now that’s the best place in Southern California to get one.
Layers of fresh arugula, tomato, imported mozzarella, and perfectly cured prosciutto enveloped by a golden crescent of thin crispy flaky bread baked on-site. It’s like a heavenly quesadilla hot pocket hybrid but healthy and with none of those ingredients.
Located in the Tustin Marketplace, we looked to Milan fashion to help us change perceptions of the Italian sandwich. We turned the take-out bags into a striking leather…er paper “tote” perfect for carrying your piadina in style. With all the fresh ingredients, these things are always in season and pretty much go with everything…like chips and a drink. Now walk, turn, pose. You’re fabulous! Don’t worry – these things won’t ruin your figure, so just enjoy the damn sandwich!
