If you’re from the south (or just have a penchant for Creole cuisine), chances are you’re at least slightly dissatisfied with most of what LA has to offer in that regard. Such food requires a blatant disregard for trends, pretense, or almost any dietary restrictions. Enter Harold & Belle’s.

The Legaux family has been serving up good old Creole favorites for 3 generations, currently led by Ryan and his wife Jessica. We may be a little biased because they’re among our favorite clients (and we recently redesigned their website and menus), but you should probably stop what you’re doing and head over to H&B for a really good meal. Like, now.

The first thing you should order is french fries covered in étouffée. Just trust us on this one. It’s not on the menu, so don’t even bother looking yet. First things first. From there, you can take many turns. Gumbo, jambalaya and po’boys are the easy choices, and basically any fried seafood is guaranteed to make you happy. There are other southern staples like fried chicken, meatloaf and pork chops, if that’s more your speed. And a few Legaux specialties like Shrimp Ryan and Harold & Belle’s Scampi round out the offerings. Oh, and did I mention they won Best Creole in LA from LA Magazine? Not too shabby.
